About Rita Petruccioli
E | Rita Petruccioli, born in 1982, is an italian illustrator. She studied Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and specialized in illustration at ENSAD in Paris. Her work, focusing on visual storytelling, can be seen in books, magazines, comics and advertising.
D | 1982 in Rom geboren, sie ist als Illustratorin tätig. Nach dem Diplom in Malerei bei der Accademia di Belle Arti in Rom spezialisierte sie in Illustration bei der EnsAD in Paris. Jetzt arbeitet sie in der Realisierung von Büchern, Comics, Werbungen. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der Kunst der Erzählung durch Abbildungen.

Exhibition: Einklang | Ezgi Polat
D | “Einklang” zeigt Ezgi Polats erste umfassendere Werkschau. Miteinander in Bezug gesetzt, zoomen die Bilder Stück für Stück an unser Leben heran. Von innen nach außen, vom Land in die Stadt, von der Straße bis in unsere Wohnungen, während die Grenzen von Lebensräumen und Jahreszeiten zerfließen.
E | “Einklang” is the first more profound show of Ezgi Polat’s workings. Put into context together, the photographies slowly zoom into our lives. From the outside inwards, from the countryside into the city, from the streets right into our homes, while the borders of living spaces and seasons melt.
About Ezgi Polat
D | Ezgi Polat hat in der Fotografie ihre Art der Selbstvermittlung und Kommunikation gefunden. Die erste Kamera bekommt sie mit acht Jahren, mit 16 kauft sich die heute 21-Jährige eine professionelle Ausrüstung. Seit Anfang 2010 studiert sie an der Neuen Schule für Fotografie in ihrer Heimats- tadt Berlin. In ihrer Arbeit erscheint sie zumeist als stille Beobachterin. Es sind Empathie und Zurückhaltung, die es ihr ermöglichen, ihre Mitmenschen einzufangen - weich und kraftvoll zugleich, melancholisch, doch nie verloren -, ohne dabei selbst zu verschwinden. Die Ursprünglichkeit und Intensität der Analogfotografie hat sie sich währenddessen vollends zu eigen gemacht.
E | Ezgi Polat’s art is a unique form of self-expression. In her work she remains mostly a silent observer, showing empathy and restraint, which enable her to capture the people around her.The imagery she uses is as soft as powerful,and melancholic but never lost. Born in Berlin in 1989, she received her first camera when she was eight years old. By the age of 16 she had already bought her first professional equipment. In 2010 she began studying at the Neue Schule für Fotografie in Berlin. Her images are taken on traditional 35mm film.

EN | Buendia (1974-2010) was born a year ago when my father gave me his old analog camera -a middle format Yashica Mat. After using it for a while, I asked whether he still had any old negatives. He did. Many of them, shot in 1974, portray the village of Buendia, which lies deep in the Spanish countryside. In the blistering sunshine of August 2010, I hunted down the same places to document how they had changed. This exhibition is the result of my investigations.
ES | Buendia (1974-2010) nació hace un año cuando mi padre me regaló su antigua cámara analógica de formato medio, una Yashica Mat. Tras aprender a manejarlo, le pregunté si todavía conservaba algún negativo. Me dijo que sí. Muchas de las imagenes, tomadas en 1974, muestran el pueblo conquense de Buendia, en la antigua «España profunda». En el calor abrasador de agosto 2010, busqué los mismos lugares con el afán de ver como habían cambiado. Esta exposición muestra el resultado de mis investigaciones.
About Ben Chislett
Born in Mexico City in 1982, Ben Chislett was adopted and raised by British parents in Madrid, Spain. He obtained a degree in psychology at Bristol University before deciding that people were far more interesting and eventually turning to photography. In 1974, his father, William Chislett, was a reporter for the Times covering Spain under Franco’s dictatorship.
